Mubi subscription Package, features review

Nitika Dahiya | Streaming Expert

I rate Mubi a 7.6 on 10. Mubi TV app, unlike any of its competitors, functions more like a repertory theatre: Every day, a new movie is launched to the site's subscribers, and it's only available for a limited time on the site. It vanishes after 30 days.

The variety and high quality of the picks, on the other hand, are thrilling. Mubi is one of several excellent services for cinephiles, and its blend of new and old films, global reach of selections, and genuinely varied range of genres are perfect.

The "Film of the Day" area on Mubi is one of the best features since it adds a new title to the streaming library every day of the week. Descriptions, trailers, cast and crew information, articles about the film's relevance, and other commentary are all included in these mubi flicks.

Get Started With Mubi Now!

Mubi is comparable to The Criterion Channel in that it is wholly dedicated to films, with none of the other streaming providers offering TV-style programming. Mubi is divided into two sections: a Now Showing part with 30 films that rotates every day and a Library with hundreds of movies that have turned out of the Now Showing segment.   Mubi's streaming rights for each title vary in length, and the titles available in the library vary by country, according to a Mubi spokeswoman. The Mubi TV app  US Library has a very vast library that has surpassed over 900 films.

Mubi Subscription

  • Mubi charges $10.99 per month (or $95.88 if paid in advance for a year), but customers can create a free Mubi account if just want to browse the site's video library and participate in discussions.
  • Mubi also provides a seven-day trial, but you must sign up with your credit card information.
  • Mubi offers apps for mobile phones (Android and iOS), video streaming devices (Apple TV, Chromecast, Fire TV, and Roku), and Smart TVs in addition to streaming via a web browser (Sony, Samsung, Android TV, and LG).
  • Mubi is also available as a Prime Video channel. The Xbox One does not have a Mubi app, although you can access the service on a PlayStation 4.

Features

User interface:

  • Mubi's online interface is straightforward and straightforward to use.
  • The film thumbnails stand out because of the black, grey, and white color palette.
  • There's a search bar, a navigation menu, and an overflow menu at the top of the page with an assortment of various options and sections.
  • You can access your account, profile preferences, and support resources from the overflow menu, as well as your watch list, viewing history, and Mubi's Browse area.
  • Mubi TV app's ever-expanding library of every movie possible, not just those in the streaming catalog, is available in the latter.
  • For easy access, I'd like to have some of these functions moved to the main menu.

Content catalog:

  • Mubi movies, meanwhile, focused on film curation, presenting the greatest of cinema while also introducing subscribers to hidden gems and forgotten classics.
  • If you're looking for some cryptic, summertime sorrow, try Michelangelo Antonioni's L'avventura (1960) on a double bill with Olivier Assayas' Summer Hours (2008).
  • I was ecstatic to discover Pietro Marcello's The Mouth of the Wolf (2009), an extraordinary hybrid documentary about a Genoese serial criminal and a transgender woman.

Streaming experience:

  • Mubi's playback screen is simple but functional. It primarily includes a play/pause button, scrubbable video progress indicator, volume slider and language/subtitle toggle.
  • That is all there is to it. The video playback resolution cannot be selected or viewed from the player.
  • There is a free 7-day Mubi trial.
  • Although you can choose a maximum video streaming resolution in the main Settings section, we'd want to be able to adjust or even confirm it on the player.
  • The playback interface of the Mubi TV app has 15-second rewind and fast-forward buttons as well.
  • The color of the video progress bar differs somewhat on the browser and on mobile; online, it is blue, while on mobile, it is green. It's worth noting that certain older films may be letterboxed.

What does it lack?

Parental controls:

  • There are no parental restrictions or a kid's profile options on Mubi.
  • The majority audience on the platform is adults.

DVR Storage:

  • It does not have any DVR storage. Moreover, you cannot download content for offline viewing later.

Conclusion

Mubi integrates various characteristics of cinema communities, such as lesser-known titles, conversations, and an extensive database of information, into a single site. Mubi is excellent in this aspect.

I particularly appreciate the support for offline downloads and streaming in 1080p (though the top services offer 4K content). However, Mubi should still include many profiles and subtitle modification options, in my opinion. Mubi's main features are currently available on Mubi TV apps, but more social functions should migrate from the web.
